What we collect

Your account. Your email address and a salted scrypt hash of your password — never the password itself — plus your subscription state (plan, trial end, and the Stripe customer and subscription identifiers).

Using Acquis through your AI assistant (the connector in Claude, ChatGPT or VS Code): we store daily tool-call countersonly — which tool ran and how many times that day, for rate limiting. We do not receive or store your conversation with the assistant, and we do not store the arguments you pass to the tools.

Using the web app at acquislaw.com/chat: we do store your questions. For each one we keep the question text, when you asked it, whether the corpus could answer it, and — so we can bill and cap fairly — the model used with its token counts and cost. If an answer fails we also keep the error, so we can see that it failed rather than assume you never asked. Your conversations are kept server-side (the question, the plain-language reading, and which provisions were cited) so your history follows you between devices. If you ask us to cover a body of law we do not have yet, we keep that request and the question behind it.

What we never collect

Payment card data (handled entirely by Stripe), your Claude or ChatGPT account credentials, your conversations with those assistants, the contents of your files, or any tracking/advertising identifiers. This site sets no analytics or advertising cookies, and we do not sell or share your data with anyone beyond the processors named below.

Processors and transfers

Infrastructure: Hetzner Online GmbH (servers in the EU, Falkenstein, Germany). Payments: Stripe, Inc. (subscription billing; we receive subscription status and customer identifiers, never card numbers). We share data with no one else and we do not sell it.

Retention and your rights

Account data, your saved conversations and your question history are kept while your account exists; usage counters are operational data kept up to 12 months. Email capy@acquislaw.com to access, correct, export or delete your data — deletion removes your account, your conversations and question history, your access tokens and your counters (Stripe retains invoicing records as required by tax law). Requests are handled by a person, within one month. You may also lodge a complaint with your supervisory authority.

The corpus

The legal texts Acquis serves are public Union law from EUR-Lex (© European Union, reuse permitted under Decision 2011/833/EU) and contain no personal data of yours.
